What is Lagna? (लग्न क्या है?)

Lagna, or the Ascendant, is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at the exact moment and place of your birth. In Vedic astrology, the Lagna is considered the foundation of the entire birth chart — more significant even than the Sun sign used in Western astrology. It determines the layout of all 12 houses, governs your physical body and outward personality, and sets the lens through which you experience life.
